Guest Blogger: Valentine’s – Series Part 3

post 1 of 2 for today…click HERE for the Reverse Confetti – Countdown to Confetti – Day one!

Hello and Happy Friday!  I’m back again and having fun with Impress!   The feminine and masculine styles have been a fun challenge for me so I’ve decided to keep that my theme.

Let’s get started!  I’m a big fan of shaker cards:

I stamped the Savvy Stamps Jar with Hearts image repeatedly on a watercolor paper panel.  I used Ranger Archival black ink.  I followed up with Zig Clean Color Markers in:  Geranium Red + Light Carmine

I poured a bunch of flat gold heart confetti on top of the panel and covered it up with a piece of acetate and used my sewing machine, complete with gold thread, to stitch the panels together.

TIP:  I free hand cut the acetate panel and then clean it up with large scissors when the panels have been sewn together.

I’m okay with sentiment free cards, how about you?  I was going to fit a sentiment in between the random mason jars but decided it would take away from the design.

Here’s how I fit in a sentiment:
oh hello sentiment.  I think we all tend to neglect the interior of our cards.  I think it’ll be a nice surprise to the recipient when they open up this fun shaker card, how about you?

Next is my masculine version:

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for using pinks for male cards (sequins, glitter, you name it!) but this card came about by accident.  I was thinking of using that awesome Savvy Stamps Woodgrain Heart on my first card but it wasn’t fitting into my design.  I had already stamped and fussy cut it so I put it aside.  It has been stamped with Fresh Ink Pool and the sentiment is Ranger Archival Black.

I remembered I have quite the stash of Impress note cards and…insta-card!

Let’s talk about Fresh Ink…they are awesome.  I have a majority of colors (with coordinating reinkers) and love using them.

  1. Super cute! Gosh, I just love those little jars, and the gold heart sequins are the perfect addition to the stitched pocket! Oh, and that woodgrain heart is scrumptious! Love!
