birthday wishes!

Yay for Friday!

Actually Thursday’s are my Friday’s but that doesn’t mean I don’t love Friday’s!

Here’s my card for today:
cardstock:  pti  paper:  carta bella ahoy there  stamps:  reverse confetti label me/sweet thing ink:  hero arts hues/black other:  reverse confetti/confetti cuts/petals ‘n posies, mme enamel dots, lifestyle crafts embossing folder
I’ve been seeing a lot of white on white…I like that look so I thought I’d give it a try.

My color combo is compliments of

Don’t you love this trio?!

I used Reverse Confetti’s:

Label Me stamps
Sweet Thing stamps
Petals ‘n Posies confetti cuts

I was inspired by

I went clean & crisp on the sketch.

So, I thought I’d show you my photography studio:

I take a majority of my pictures on the kitchen table.  It’s actually one of the many special pieces of furniture to me.  When my Mom & Dad bought their first home in Toronto, Ontario, {early 1960’s} the owners left behind the kitchen table and some other pieces.

I set my cards on the corner of the table to photog.  There’s a sliding glass door to the left of the table so I get plenty of natural sunlight.

Prior to moving into the house, I use to take pictures on my front porch or in the photo tent.  I’m not quite sure what I’ll do in the winter months but for now, I’m enjoying the natural sunlight.

How about you?  Have you figured out that sweet spot to take pictures?

  1. I love your card…the combination of patterned papers against the white embossing is gorgeous. I take all my pictures in a light tent πŸ™ Wish I was home more to capture the natural light!

  2. I love love love this! LOVING those flowers!! And an Arcadia door is right behind my craft space and I take my photos out on my patio out that door .. as you know .. AZ is more sun than anything else …so lots of natural light (like 300 days of it! HA!)

  3. This is sweet Amy, I love the embossed panels and the sweet pattern paper focal piece, I like ur kitchen πŸ˜‰ I am also loving the fact that we have plenty of sun these days, I have a tiny table in my patio which form my spot for photography πŸ™‚

  4. aww what a sweet card.. and love your photography studio.. heehee.. those chairs are too cute..

  5. Amy what a lovely card, I love the embossed background and the patterns you combined for the circle. I have lots of light in my house and a light tent–yet I am still searching for the perfect natural light setting!

  6. I recognized that Mojo Monday sketch right away, and really love your take on it! Such a fun color combo, and I love your slight nautical twist to this design. The embossed white panels look like ocean waves. Love it!
Yes, after taking literally hundreds of pictures in different spots around my house, I think I've finally figured out the few places that tend to work. And it definitely changes throughout the year. Winter is the hardest time, of course, because there's often not enough light…

  7. Such a sweet card! And my usual sweet spot for photos, is in my living room on a table by the window. Seems to work for the most part. πŸ˜‰

  8. Amy, I love your style and this one just makes me smile – love the embossed white paper…. hmmmmm =]

Thanks always for the inspiration –
    Michele

  9. I love your card and that sketch Amy!
and how sweet it is to see where you take your pictures. What a great anecdote too πŸ˜‰
    Thank You~

  10. Great card, Amy! The white on white is so classic and the pops of color really work beautifully.
Love your photo spot! My picture studio is my lanai ~ living in FL, anywhere outside is the BEST light. I have been known to take a photo or two late at night and that would be in my craft room~no light tent, so those pics are always poor πŸ™

  11. love how you incorporated the colors from the photo. I most of my pics on the deck. I really like your kitchen tile back splash. Probably redoing our kitchen in a year or so.

  12. LOVE your card, Amy, I'm really digging white on white lately too and you did it marvelously on this card! And the focal center of the card is fabulous with the flowers and bright colors! I don't have a "sweet spot" in this house, unfortunately, we only have north/south windows, no east/west, so even at my sliding glass doors the light is not as great as I'd like it to be. I do love the unfocused background of your kitchen in your shots, I don't think I could achieve that here because of the lighting but you've inspired me to at least play around with it. Have a great weekend!

  13. I love all the fun elements going on in your card! So fun and funky! And no sweet spot for me :(. All my photos suck…but I think it's the photographers fault!!

  14. Love this. The white on white texture is amazing!

P/s: I take my photos at my bedroom window with two propped up foam boards.

  15. Love your white on white, Amy, love the colors you put with it! Happy Saturday. and oh, I use a white light, but then my photo's seldom look that professional like other people I know. I am probably just not patient enough.

  16. LOVE the shapes and all that yummy texture on your card! And I love seeing where people shoot their cards! Your set up is awesome!

  17. You know I love white cards and yours is perfect.
Love the kitchen and all that natural light. I wish I had the natural light but mine is either no light or too bright light.

  18. Absolutely love this card, Amy… one of my favorites for sure. I love what you did with those embossed panels… and the focal point, and everything else!

  19. the blocks of texture and the centralized color are perfect on this card Amy- love it!

  20. White on white, with that eye-catching colourful focal point…I'm swooning in a big way over how gorgeous your card is! Clean, crisp, lovely! As for your kitchen…I'd like one just. like. that. Please…sooooo pretty!!
    Hugs~c
