watercolor for card makers: day 1

I’m playing along in the watercolor class (more deets on that in a sec).  Managed to get through Jen’s technique on Day 1.  I know, I’m slow but juggling work and I don’t want to feel rushed and I’m enjoying the process.
Okay, perhaps if you squinted and turned your head a bit you might be able to see the Huey Mask that I used?

Seriously, in real life, you can see the triangle mask, well, a bit, it just isn’t being picked up in my photog.

How thrilled am I that I WON a ‘seat’ in the Online Card Classes:  watercolor for card makers.  A big shout out to the awesome Yana!

Here are my supplies:

I’ve got 2 words:

Patience Grasshopper

I have no patience…seriously.

I was super impatient waiting for the ink to dry.  I know that every time I ‘peeked’ I was ruining the technique.  I will definitely give this another try!

The water colored portion has such luxurious sheen from both the Fireworks and Tattered Angels ink!

I was thoroughly inspired by the current

Next up is technique #2 taught by Laura Bassen…she’s a funny gal!
I’ve tried this technique before and I think if I practice more I’ll get the hang of it.  My plan is to post my original cards using the techniques with a follow up post using it after some ‘practice’, kwim?

My card seems kind of muddled

muddy puddles

…but I still like the end product.

Here are my supplies:

Distress Inks:

I actually made it through all 3 techniques!

Here’s my card that uses Kristina Werner’s technique.

I realized that I don’t really have many background stamps but picked this one up from Novell at our garage sale last year.

I used a tray of watercolor that I picked up from Michaels.

  5. I am IN LOVE with all your creations from the class!! WOW!!! I am LOVING the colors!! And I can tell you … that is the ONLY positive thing I can say about AZ — the mists/paint/stains dry in like .2 seconds — cause it's a DRY heat! LOL!!!!!

  12. How fun you won a seat at the class Amy! love all or your projects – even if they aren't 'perfect' examples of the lesson – they are lovely creations!! I think it does take several attempts to get a technique down! Have a great Mother's Day with your boy and girl!

  13. I've been taking the class and watching the videos but haven't tried anything yet! I love your soft washes. Just the hint of color in the first card works so well with the simple, yet bold sentiment!
